UP: Army stages flag march in Meerut after tension rises

Lucknow: The situation has improved in the urban areas of the riot-hit Muzaffarnagar district. But in Meerut the discovery of a child's body who had been missing for the past few days has led to tension.

After the news spread about the body, two groups came out in the streets and indulged in stone pelting. Police had to use force to bring the situation under control and forced the markets to shut down. Even cinema halls were closed as a preventive measure and to control the situation.

As a precautionary measure schools and colleges will remain closed, said the district administration.
