US Consul meets child workers

HYDERABAD: American Consul General, Katherine Dhanani visited CHORD, an NGO at Kukatpally at their recently opened girl child project ‘Aashirwad’ for rescued girl child labourers. She also participated in rangoli competitions arranged for girl children, toured the facility, witnessed the competition and judged the top three winners. She encouraged girls to dream big and continue their education as it is the only way to realise one’s aspirations, be resourceful and self-reliant Carols were sung by children to enthuse the participants and Dhanani gave away christmas gifts to children. Also present on the ocassion was D Srinivasulu, IAS, Principal Secretary, Labour, Employment and Factories. He released balloons to symbolically send a message to the public on liberating the girl child and eliminating child labour.
