New Delhi: The Uttarakhand government has announced plans to start the Char Dham Yatra from May 2, but the roads leading to the four shrines are still in a bad condition.

Due to bad weather and poor road condition the Uttarakhand government has advised children and old people against visiting Kedarnath. This holy Yatra was put on hold in 2013 because of the damage caused by the massive flood to the shrines, especially the Kedarnath shrine.

The floods were so powerful that it also destroyed homes, business, washed away roads, killing and injuring several people. However, government claimed to have carried out the repair work but some work still remains to be done.

There is still some snow around the Kedarnath temple and the administration is working overtime to get it ready.

The shrine will open on May 4 after which the Yatra will begin but till now only eight people have registered for the same. Pilgrims are jittery following the devastating landslides and floods in 2013.

Till only arrangements for the stay of only 150 people have been made at Kedarnath.
