Uttarakhand Man Kills Wife With Snake Venom To Claim Rs 25 Lakh Insurance
Victim's brother claimed that accused killed his sister in less than a month after taking a Rs 25 lakh life insurance policy in her name.

A man allegedly killed his wife by injecting snake venom to claim Rs 25 lakh insurance payout in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar. The incident came to light when the victim’s brother filed a complaint against the accused with Jaspur police.

The accused, identified as Shubham Chaudhary allegedly killed his wife Saloni Chaudhary on August 11, less than a month after he took a life insurance policy amounting to Rs 25 Lakh.

According to a TOI report, Saloni’s brother Ajit Singh filed a complaint with Jaspur Police accusing Shubham of killing his sister to claim insurance money. He further alleged that Shubham abused Saloni mentally and Physically and due to the increasing abuse his sister had sought a divorce due to Shubham’s extramarital affair four years ago.

Despite several panchayats held over the issue, Shubham’s behaviour did not improve, said Singh.

Saloni’s brother claimed that Shubham killed Saloni on Aug 11, less than a month after applying for a Rs 25 lakh insurance policy in her name on July 15. Singh said Shubham named himself the nominee and paid a Rs 2 lakh premium to the insurance company.

A murder case has been filed against Shubham Chaudhary, his parents and one other person under BNS Section 103(1) over Saloni Chaudhary’s death. The case was initially registered as a suspicious death however it has now been upgraded to a murder investigation after Ajit’s complaint. Saloni’s viscera have been sent for further examination to gather evidence against Shubham.
