BHUBANESWAR: The Solicitor General of India, Rohinton Nariman, will be one of the recipients of honorary doctorate from the Utkal University on March 2 during its 44th convocation. Nariman will be joined by Supreme Court Judge Ananga Patnaik, former Solicitor General Harish Salve, CBI’s Special Public Prosecutor U U Lalit, Servants of India Society’s member Manubhai Patel, Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) founder Bansidhar Panda and Asian Heart Institute’s vice-chairman and Managing Director Ramakanta Panda this year. The university will award 90 gold medals and 192 Ph.D at its convocation. Students of 27 regular departments, along with those from different self-financing courses, will be graduating on the day. Vice-President Hamid Ansari will address the function as chief guest. “This is for the first time that a V-P will be attending a function of the university,” said Vice-Chancellor P K Sahoo.Governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare will preside over the event, university registrar D N Jena said.
