KOCHI: V Karunakaran Nambiar Award, instituted by the Express Journalists Union, was conferred on Anoop Sridharan for his contributions to sports journalism here on Thursday.Minister K C Joseph, who presented the award, said that Karunakaran Nambiar was a revolutionary journalist, who worked tirelessly to bring about social change."The late Nambiar, who had worked with the Thrissurbased Malayalam daily 'Express', is a great inspiration to all the aspiring journalists," he said.Anoop's report which appeared in the 'Mangalam' daily titled 'Ariyumo Ningal Ivare' fetched him the award. The report explored the unrecognised sporting talents in the state. M Nandakumar, Director of Information and Public Relations, Benny Behanan MLA and Kerala Press Academy chairman S R Shakthidharan spoke.
