Scores of villagers in the Loni area in Ghaziabad on Tuesday blocked traffic in protest against the alleged release of polluted chemicals into open drains by some factories.
Residents of Agrola village alleged that groundwater was being contaminated and posing health hazards as they held up traffic on the Delhi-Saharanpur and other arterial roads leading to the Tronica City industrial area.
Later, Loni SHO Gorakh Nath Yadav reached the spot and pacified the agitators. He also assured them of action over their demands. "All the units not following pollution control board regulations will be identified," said Yadav.
