MYSORE:  In order to pressurise the government to announce three per cent separate reservation and setting up of a development corporation for the Vishwakarma community, which has more than 35 lakh members in the state, Akhila Karnataka Vishwakarma Mahasabha will launch a 10-day rally from Mysore to Bangalore on September 8.A unanimous resolution was passed in the meeting presided by Mahasabha president K P Nanjundi on Sunday. “We have been asking the government to declare a general holiday on September 17 to mark Vishwakarma Jayanti and a separate reservation for our community. Hence, we have decided to follow the Gandhian way by taking out a padayatra in which more than one lakh people will participate. We will submit a memorandum to Governor H R Bharadwaj,” he said.He was addressing the community members at a meeting held at Nanjaraja Bahadur Chowltry.“Neither Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda nor district Minister S A Ramdas have responded to our demands. They did not have  the courtesy to attend the state-level convention held in Mysore a few days ago,” he said.He said they don’t have any MLA or MLC and no one was elected as Zilla Panchayat presidents from the community in the state. Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagar Vishwakarma Mahasabha district office-bearers were present in the meeting. More than 100 Vishwakarma members took out a bike rally from Chamundi Hills to Nanjaraja Bahaddur Chowltry where the meet was held after offering pooja to Chamundeshwari.
