Watch out! Delhi traffic gets the axe
HC is looking to change Delhi's record of having maximum road accidents by enforcing stricter traffic rules.

New Delhi: Delhi has the dubious distinction of being the city with the maximum road accidents and the High Court is now looking to change all that with stricter traffic rules.

All traffic violation fines have been increased by Rs 500 so if you are caught using a mobile while driving it will cost you Rs 1,500 as opposed to Rs 1000.

The minimum fine for an offence will now be Rs 600 as opposed to Rs 100.

There is bad news for smokers: you are now not allowed to smoke while driving.

And there’s more monitoring for new drivers, instead of the existing six months probation for them, the monitoring period will now be two years.

You cannot have tinted glasses in your vehicle and parking is not allowed in the Lutyens' Zone. Vehicles will be allowed only in residence premises.

Lastly, drivers of Public Transport Vehicles will now have to be high school graduates.

What's your reaction?
