Weather Update: Light Showers Likely In Delhi; Heavy Rains To Hit Gujarat, IMD Issues Orange Alert
IMD has issued an orange alert for four districts in Gujarat icluding Devbhumi Dwarka forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday.

Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Delhi on Thursday dropping the temperature six notches below normal at 28.8 degrees Celsius. The observatory at Safdarjung, Delhi’s primary weather station, recorded 77.1 mm rainfall on August 29. The Met Department has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light downpours and thunderstorms over Delhi-NCR on Friday.

Gujarat is witnessing heavy rainfall for past couple of days triggering severe waterlogging in several cities across the state. Under the infulence of a deep depression over Kachchh and adjoining areas of Saurashtra, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over isolated places in Gujarat On Friday. Heavy showers are likely to hit the coastal districts in the state on August 31. The Met Department has issued an orange alert for Porbandar, Jamnagar, Dwarka and Kutch districts forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a meeting on Thursday at the Gandhinagar State Emergency Operation Center following the forecast of heavy rains and potential storms in the Kutch district. Patel reviewed the system’s preparedness for the natural calamity via a video conference with the District Collector.

Heavy rains are also likely to hit ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa from Sept 2 to Sept 4, 2024. Heavy showers are likely over Marathwada region from Sept 1 to Sept 3.

The IMD has predicted heavy showers over Himachal Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi on Sept 2; Uttarakhand from August 30 to September 2 and Uttar Pradesh on Septmeber 1 and 2. Heavy downpour is likely over Rajasthan on from Septemeber 1 to 4. East Rajasthan is likely to witness isolated very heavy rainfall on September 2.

IMD has forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Coastal Karnataka on August 30. Heavy rains are likely over North Interior Karnataka on Saturday. Heavy showes are likely to hit Telangana, Kerala and Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh Yanam during during the next 2-3 days.
