Vijay Mallya is known for making the ‘most’ out of bank holidays and once again, he didn’t miss the chance to spread Ugadi cheer on social media. Whether it’s Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, or any other festivity, you can count on him to extend his wishes. So, when Ugadi rolled around on April 9, Mallya kept up the tradition by sending out his heartfelt wishes for the Hindu New Year celebrated in certain Indian states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Goa.
“Happy Ugadi to all,” he simply penned on ‘X’. And with that, the comment section lit up with amusing banter as users began sharing their witty responses.

“Petition to rename all Government Holidays as Vijay Mallya Day!!” suggested one user. Another teased, “Tweeting on festival day won’t give you IPL trophy” poking fun at Mallya’s former team, RCB, which has yet to clinch the Indian Premier League title.

Before this Ugadi post, Mallya had taken to ‘X’ to celebrate a different kind of victory—not a festival, but a significant achievement nonetheless. When the RCB women’s team clinched the WPL (Women’s Premier League) trophy, he congratulated the Smriti Mandhan-led squad for their triumph in only the second season of the league, while subtly nudging the men’s team, still in pursuit of the elusive IPL crown.
“Heartiest congratulations to the RCB Women’s Team for winning the WPL. It would be a fantastic double if the RCB Men’s Team won the IPL which is long overdue. Good Luck” he conveyed.
