When the going gets tough, the tough get going: Veenu Paliwal's last Facebook post

"When the going gets tough, the tough get going." This was the last message of India's most famous woman motorcylist Veena Paliwal who breathed her last on Monday evening following a road accident in Madhya Pradesh.

Affectionately nicknamed H.O.G Rani (Harley Owners Group), Paliwal was on her Harley Davidson when she met with the accident. Her bike skidded off in Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh. According to some reports, she sustained a hand injury in the accident for which she was given an injection but her pulse started fading thereafter. She was moved to another hospital but was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Apart from being an avid bike rider, she was also a mother and an entrepreneur. She launched a lounge and Victorian tea room in Jaipur named Cha Bar. "Well, chah means desire and in Bengali it also means tea. So one has to have a desire to follow the dreams or aspirations, this is what I believe in," she had affectionately said in an interview to Jaipur women blog.

She had also explained how she inherited the passion for bike riding from her father. "My father was dumbfounded when he got to know, as biking is a serious sport and one has to ride very safely. He obviously still shares the same concern. He calls me putrika (combination of putra & putri) – that’s soooo sweet," she had said in the interview.

Not just her father and she herself, Veenu had narrated how her daughter also resonated her passion for bike riding. "My daughter has accompanied me during a ride and shows the same passion. However, my son isn't much keen to be a biker, which is surprising according to societal notions. Both my children are proud of me as I am living my dream and setting an example for women by breaking the stereotype," she had said.

Motivating more and more women to come out and do what they want to, she had said, "I want to say, you have to do it to overcome it." Her journey has been an inspiration to all the women out there on how one should pursue their passion and desires.
