Mumbai: Hema Malini is tired of being typecast in cinema where the roles for older women are limited, according to a news report on Friday.

Hema, 58, has played mother to younger actors for several years and is now being offered grandmother roles.

“It's not that I am flooded with offers everyday,” she told the Mumbai Mirror on Friday.

“I am offered the regular 'mummy' type of roles in Bollywood, and now people have started offering me grandmoms' roles too,” she says.

The actress, a Member of Parliament and a classical dancer, prefers to keep busy doing other things than working in mediocre movies.

“I keep myself engaged with other creative work and I don't need to do rubbish films,” she says.

The actress, who has appeared in more than 130 movies in the last 40 years, was christened Dream Girl after she played the lead in a movie by the same name.

She says none of her contemporaries work anymore so she is usually cast opposite movie legend Amitabh Bachchan with whom she shares screen space in Baabul, which was released Friday.

“Where are the heroes to star opposite me? None of the actors from my generation, except Amitabh, are working,” she said.

“If I do a film I need someone as big as Amitabh opposite me,” she added.
