BANGALORE: Speaking in the council, Opposition leader Udayshankar said, “According to the order, the Ruling Party should have kept the budget draft ready three-weeks before the financial year and present it in the first week of the financial year, that is in April, as per Karnataka Muncipal Corportaion Act 1976.”Further, Udayshankar said the Ruling Party presented the Rs 9,315 crore budget in August. It was approved in the state government after three months. So far, Palike has mobilised Rs 1,622 crore, which is just 17.41 per cent of the total budget. “How it is possible to mobilise the remaining 80 per cent of the funds,” he asked, and added, that the Revenue Department has inadequate staff. “Only 30 per cent of the staff was functional.”
