KOCHI: A woman, whose husband died in Sabarimala due to a heart attack, filed a petition before the Kerala High Court on Wednesday seeking compensation for the death. Sivakasi-based Pandilakshmi, wife of Udayakumar, who died during a pilgrimage to Sabarimala on July 16, filed the petition. She alleged that the death was caused due to the negligent attitude of the authorities, including the Travancore Devaswom Board and the state government. The petitioner argued that her husband died during the journey at Marakoottam between Pampa and Sabarimala. Inaction on the part of the authorities is a violation of the fundamental rights, she said. The petitioner has sought a compensation of `2,50,000 without further delay.
