DHENKANAL: The ban imposed on entry of foreign nationals to Koraput and Rayagada districts after the recent kidnapping of Italian nationals Bosusco Paolo and Claudio Colangelo may not impact the foreign tourists’ inflow to the State much. The Government can take heart from the fact that a group of Italian tourists have expressed their desire to return. The tourists from Italy, who were here to study the State’s culture and lifestyle, returned with a promise to be back to enjoy the natural beauty of Dhenkanal and learn some of the art and crafts.During their two-day stay, the Italians visited Gobardhanpur, Joranda and Karmul, crafts villages, and interacted with the tribal jewellery craftspeople, informed Colombo Mario while speaking to this paper.Mario said he felt secure and moved on foot freely without any fear.Mario toured the district along with Ghiti Roberto, Damini Luigia, Pasotti Annlisa, Baresi Elenora Maria, Inverdi Sevnino and an Indian guide Manish Vyas Polji. “Though we know really little about the reasons behind abduction of Paolo, we do understand the State issues are related to the incident,” said Mario. The Italians now feel unsafe to visit the Maoist-affected areas, Mario said. Referring to Paolo, Mario said: “In my opinion he has not committed any crime against Maoists but was held captive by them.” “We demand his immediate release,” he added.
