A woman was on Friday detained in Hyderabad on suspicion of having links with terrorist group Islamic State.

She was detained by the Cyberabad police at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad and taken for questioning.

On January 16,2015 Shamshabad Police intercepted one Salman Mohiuddin, who was trying to join ISIS by travelling to Dubai and from there to Syria via Turkey.

During Questioning he confessed to have opened several face book accounts along with one Nicky Joseph of British national living in Dubai, who influenced and invited him to join her in Dubai in order to go to Syria.

Both of them indoctrinated and motivated several youth via social media platform to get attracted towards the activities of ISIS and Jihad. In the above context a case was registered and Salman Mohiuddin was produced in the court.

During further course of investigation, it was revealed that Nicky Joseph was not a British national but infact is an Indian with original name as Afsha Jabeen hailing from Towlichowki, Hyderabad migrated to Abudhabi during her child hood. After completing her Intermediate in Abudhabi, she came to Hyderabad and graduated from Shadan College. She married one Devender Kumar @ Mustafa.

On credible information, Afsha Jabeen on Friday was taken into custody at RGI Airport, when she arrived from Dubai. As she is a co-accused in Salman’s case, she was arrested and produced in the court. Further enquiry is going on.

This comes less than 10 days after two men hailing from Kerala were deported from UAE for alleged links with the terrorist group. The two men were interrogated by Kerala police post their arrival.

According to the Kerala police, their interrogation did not reveal suggesting any links with Islamic State.

The two men from Kochi were allegedly part of a group that participated in forums on social media which has ISIS propaganda.
