New Delhi: Art just got wearable as young designers compete with each other to create wild and wacky labels as part of an art-meets-fashion concept that explores the human body as a living canvas.

Young designers popularized the World of Wearable Art (WOW) at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2011 to introduce in India what Lady Gaga brings to the international fashion platform.

From aluminum and metal wires to plastic pipes and iron sheets, young Indian design students put on a great show at fashion's biggest event in India.

Fourteen Indian WOW designs displayed at the venue this year have attracted much curiosity from visitors.

From breakfast served as the dress or cups aligned to deck one up, the designs are "out-of-the-box".

The final Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) Indian entries will compete in New Zealand's World of WearableArt show.

In 2010, NID Gandhinagar students Yogesh Chaudhary and Manas Barve won the Supreme Montana WOW Award for their 'Loops' garment.

The World of WearableArt Awards Show is held annually in Wellington, New Zealand, for the past 16 years. It twists conventional perceptions of both art and fashion churning out breathtaking works of art designed for the moving body into an extraordinary theatrical show.

In India, WOW partnered with FDCI in 2005 to encourage and offer budding Indian design students the opportunity to showcase their talent on an international platform.
