NAGAPATTINAM: A 55-year-old yoga teacher was hacked by a youth at Thirumeignanam near Porayar in the district on Tuesday night.Sources said Muthukrishnan of Vadakal near Sirkazhi had been visiting various villages to teach yoga. A month ago, he reportedly rented a house in Thirumeignanam, from where he taught yoga to youth, including Paramasivam (22), a diploma dropout of the same village.Around 11 pm on Tuesday night, Paramasivam arrived at his house. When Muthukrishnan came out, the youth reportedly hit his head with a hammer and then hacked him with a sickle, kiiling him on the spot.The Porayar police rushed to the spot and sent the body to the Mayiladuthurai GH for a postmortem and arrested Paramasivam. The student was reportedly unhappy with the manner of Muthukrishnan’s teaching. A case was registered and investigation is on.
