Spring is almost here which means extensive use of ceiling fans for the next few months. in the winter, there is a high probability that your fan’s blades may have accumulated, dust and dirt. Instead of shelling out money to hire a professional to clean the fan, you can step up and do the work for just Rs 2.

Dust accumulated on the blades slows down the speed of the fan and affects the air circulation in the room. It can also spread dust, germs and allergens. Hence, it is important to clean the fans in intervals to make sure it is in perfect working condition. So, use the following trick to get rid of dirty fans and plates with just these simple steps.

Step 1: Safety

The most important step is to make sure that you switch off the fan first. Your fans are on or if the regulator is on, there might be chances of electricity. Hence always make sure that you switch off the fan.

Step 2: Cleaning

Take a pillowcase. Climb onto a high stool and stand comfortably within touching distance of the fan. Now, take the pillowcase and insert the fan blade into it. Wipe off the dust without applying too much pressure. By doing this, you will ensure that all the dirt from the blade falls inside the pillowcase and not on the floor, your eyes or even your hair. Also, the fan will get cleaned from the top and the bottom side of the blades.

Step-3 Cleaning other parts of the fan

Take a microfibre duster with a long rod attached to it and clean the top parts of the fan and the motor.

Step 4: Use shampoo

After dusting off the dirt, take a bowl of hot water and pour two drops of shampoo or liquid soap into it. Take a cotton cloth or a microfibre cloth in the solution and wring it out thoroughly before cleaning the fan. Wipe the blades and other parts of the fan with this wet cloth. Your fan will shine like new.
