How Olive Oil Can Be Used To Safely Remove From Ear Wax
Most people use cotton swabs or ear candling to remove ear wax.

We are all aware of ear wax and how its cleaning poses a problem at times. It is a waxy mixture which is made of dead cells, hair, dust and dirt. A little too much earwax protects the ear canal, but a large quantity of the same can also damage the ear. The wax in the ear is secreted from the cerumen glands that are present in the outer regions of the ear canal. Accumulation of wax in the ear can lead to problems like ear pain, deafness, tinnitus or itching in or around an ear infection. After the composition of a large amount of earwax, you must consult a doctor to know the right way to remove ear wax.

Most people use cotton swabs or ear candling to remove ear wax. These are not recommended techniques. These home remedies for removing excessive wax may sometimes push the cerumen even more inside the ear canal leading to blockage. Other home remedies can prove to be effective in removing the earwax. Olive oil is one of those.

You can apply two to three drops of olive oil in the ear for twice-thrice times a day. You can continue the process for 2-3 weeks, until all the earwax has been removed. Olive oil softens the hardened skin which is accumulated near the ear wax. Due to this, it becomes easy to extract the ear wax. Usually, three weeks are enough if continued regularly. You don’t have to mechanically push out the earwax after applying the oil. The lump of wax becomes soft and slips out on its own.

Before using it, warm the oil to room temperature before applying the oil to the ear. Put a few drops in the affected ear. Make sure that you sleep with the ear up while applying the oil. Lie in this position for 10 minutes so that the oil can reach the air. Accumulation of wax in the ear can lead to problems like ear pain, deafness, tinnitus or itching in or around an ear infection. You can also use baby oil, glycerin or hydrogen peroxide for the same purpose. Baking soda in water can also help remove earwax. With the help of a dropper, you can flush out the excessive ear wax from your ears.

One must, however, consult an expert before using these aforementioned techniques to clean ear wax.
