Khushi Kapoor and Vedang Raina turned showstoppers for courtier Gaurav Gupta as he showcased his beautiful collection, Arunodaya at the Hyundai India Couture Week 2024. As we set foot in the hall at the Ashok, we were greeted by a grand mudra set conceptualised by the A-Cube Project which created a grand ambiance before the onset of the show.
Arunodaya, derived from the Sanskrit words “Arun” (dawn) and “Udaya” (rise or daybreak), signifies the early dawn. This captivating phenomenon, where the first light of day pierces the darkness, was the essence of Gaurav Gupta’s couture collection. Arunodaya embodies the mystical transformation of night into day, symbolizing hope, renewal, and the infinite possibilities of new beginnings.
The Arunodaya collection captures the serene tones of early morning with a palette that includes White, Ivory Pearl, Comet Blue, Petal Pink, Mauve, Slate, Sand, Bordeaux, and Lava, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation. Intricate embroideries, such as Indian Zardozi, cage embroidery, and colorful details, bring the dawn narrative to life. Sheer fabrics evoke the lightness of dawn, while opulent lehengas, saree gowns, and draped sarees showcase Gaurav Gupta’s craftsmanship and innovative spirit. Futuristic elements, like metallic breastplates and reflective embroidery on men’s jackets, further enhance the collection, heralding a new era in Indian couture. The couturier’s signature sculpting art weaves throughout the collection, highlighting his visionary approach.
Couturier Gaurav Gupta commented, “Arunodaya is a celebration of new beginnings and the endless possibilities that come with them. Khushi and Vedang embody the spirit of this collection with their grace and charisma, bringing the essence of dawn to life on the runway.”
Khushi Kapoor captivated the audience in a fitted mermaid skirt and an off-shoulder blouse with sleeves, paired with a shoulder cape. Her outfit, in a mesmerizing Sand hue, was adorned with thousands of dripping crystals, pearls, and Zardozi embroidery. Kapoor remarked, “Walking for Gaurav for my debut walk is like stepping into an ethereal dream. His designs seamlessly blend fantasy with reality, and being a part of his journey is truly an honor.”
On the other hand, Vedang impressed in a black velvet long jacket featuring intricate refraction embroidery. Raina added, “Gaurav’s visionary artistry is unparalleled. His ability to transform fabric into wearable art is extraordinary. I am thrilled to be a part of his vision and this collection.”
Anmol Jewellers, the Jewelry Partner, launched their new collection “Revé: Dream Couture” symbolizing dreams. The perfect blend of craftsmanship and modern design perfectly complemented Gaurav’s couture and enhanced the show’s grandeur.
