Shravan 2017: Importance of Holy Month ‘Sawan’
Shravan month has special significance for devotees of Lord Shiva.

The auspicious month of Sawan or Shravan is considered as the holiest of months, according to the Hindu calendar.

All Mondays, which fall during the Shravan month, hold immense significance in the North Indian states.

Shravan begins from the first day of the full moon and ends in the third week of August. The name Shravan is taken from the Shravan Nakshatra or star that rules the sky during the time.

The holy month begins from today 10th July and will last till 7th August 2017.

This month has a special significance for devotees of Lord Shiva as worshipers show their relentless devotion towards ‘Mahadeva’ by worshiping Shiva Linga with Bel Patra (leaves), flowers, holy water and milk.
