What if you don’t have to traverse through the chaotic narraow bylanes of Chandni Chowk to gorge on the irresistible variety of street food? What if you get an option to try the amazing lip-smacking food from reliable names such as Paranthe Wali Gali, Japani Samose Wala, Giani's Di Hatti, Heera Lal Chat Bhandar, Jugal Kishor Ramji Lal Chaat Bhandar, Kuremal Mohan Lal Kulfi Wale at one place? We know that you would rush to the venue without wasting your time. Sanjeev Tagra, who has organized Zaika-E-Dilli - TheleWala's Street Food Festival, spoke to IBNLive.com about the thought that went into organizing the festival and the difficulties they had to face.
“Anybody who has stayed in Delhi would never say they haven’t tried Delhi’s street food. Considering the perpetual love that Delhiites have for its chatpata street food made us think of the festival. Zaika-e-Dilli, the TheleWala Street Food Festival, is a true celebration of best street foods from different parts of Delhi. And to ensure our guests have a terrific time we have called best vendors from Old Delhi to offer authentic fare,” says Sanjeev.
As expected there were a few problems that Sanjeev and team had to face while putting things in order for the festival. “We didn’t have enough time to organize the festival. Within the time frame of two weeks, we had to finalise the venue, do its promotional campaign and create buzz about the event. Since we were convinced about our decision to set up the festival, we weren’t bogged down by any problem,” he says.
While food will be the main attraction, several other performances such live art act, food games and other live performances have also been arranged to keep people busy. “We want our guests to have fun. Hence, we decided to introduce competition such as gol gappa and gulab jamun eating contests,” he says.
The festival which will be organised today at PSOI Club, Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri, begins at 12 noon and ends at
9 pm.
