After a glorious box office run, Kalki 2898 AD star Prabhas has emerged as the Most Popular Male Film Star in India, as per Ormax Media’s report for July 2024. Kalki 2898 AD was released towards the end of June and brought widespread acclaim to the actor. Prabhas’ top spot is also interesting as it comes at the heels of Arshad Warsi’s comments about his role in the Nag Ashwin directorial film.
Currently, Prabhas is lined up with two most anticipated sequels, Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar. According to trade experts, it is estimated that the revenue generated will be up to Rs 2,000 crore for each of these films. The shooting of these films will begin soon. Though there are many stars in Indian cinema like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Rajinikanth and Vijay, Prabhas is ahead of them all in terms of revenue.
As fans are rejoicing Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar’s digital release on Netflix and Prime Video, they’re also eagerly looking forward to their sequels.
Kalki 2898 AD sequel will focus on Yaskin’s character (played by Kamal Haasan), the antagonist of the franchise, as he embarks on his perilous mission. As per reports, it’s expected to take three years to complete. Prabhas has also hinted that the sequel will be divided into two parts. Some portions of it were shot over 20 days in the earlier schedules when part one was being filmed.
At the Moscow International Film Week, producers and sister duo Priyanka Dutt (also Nag’s wife) and Swapna Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies caught up with us and commented on the second instalment of the mythological sci-fi franchise. “The filming will start in the next five or six months (January or February 2025). Once it starts, we’ll be able to talk more about it,” Priyanka said.
Besides, the shooting of Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam can begin anytime soon. The film’s producer Vijay Kiragandur said, “The script of Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam is ready and we will start the film anytime. Prabhas wants to bring it to the screens as soon as possible.”
