Ananya Panday Says She Gets Her 'Nazar' Removed Weekly: 'The Help Does The Mirchi Thing, If It Smells...'
Ananya Panday spoke about superstitious rituals but said that she doesn't understand the science behind them.

After making waves in Prime Video’s Call Me Bae, Ananya Panday is now seen in Netflix’s CTRL. The actress has been busy promoting the film and has left no stone unturned to ensure that it is a success. In a recent promotional video, she reveals that she gets her ‘nazar’ taken out every week to ward off evil.

Speaking to Raunaq Rajani in a video posted on the Netflix India YouTube channel, she said, “I take out my nazar every week. The help at my house does the mirchi thing. You know the mirchi thing? So, if it smells a lot, it means you have nazar. If the mirchi burns a lot, you have nazar. I don’t know the science behind it… My mom put two black dots behind my ear before I came here. Everyone thinks I don’t shower or have something dirty behind my ear, but my mom keeps putting it again and again.”

As for CTRL, the trailer introduced Ananya Panday as Nella Awasthi and Vihaan Samat as Joe Mascarenhas, a couple whose content creation has earned them a loyal Internet following. But the story takes a turn when the pair breaks up. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, CTRL explores the question: in a world where data is power, how much of ourselves should we share online, and what happens when we lose control of that information?

Ananya Panday shared her thoughts on playing Nella, “My character Nella is like any of us. She’s caught up in a world dominated by technology and social media. CTRL explores how we navigate the fine line between our online presence and who we are in real life. Working with Vikram sir and Nikhil sir has been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait for you to watch it on Netflix and uncover the connection between Nella and Allen.”

Director Vikramaditya Motwane said, “CTRL has been a totally unique journey for me and the team. It’s told in what we call the ‘screen life’ format, which presents the story in an almost voyeuristic way, using the technology we use every day. Our goal has been to create this immersive experience, and Netflix has really helped us reach a global audience.”

The film is currently streaming on Netflix.
