Anne Hathaway And Nicholas Galitzine To Reunite For The Idea of You Sequel? What We Know
Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios in an interview with Variety, hinted at the possibility of a follow-up to The Idea Of You

The Idea of You, starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, was released on Amazon Prime earlier this year, and the romantic comedy was a massive hit on the platform. And now we might see a sequel to the film. In an interview with Variety, Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, and Kelly Day, VP of international for Prime Video, hinted at the possibility of a follow-up to this romantic hit.

Salke stated, “Maybe!” when discussing the potential for a sequel, noting the company’s intention to continue producing engaging content following the success of the film.

“We announced that we’re making a “Red, White & Royal Blue” sequel [also starring Galitzine]. So you can look for us wanting to deliver more when there’s something that’s been so successful like that. But we’re definitely in business with [“The Idea of You”] director Michael Showalter — who’s not a woman, but he certainly did an incredible job bringing a very female story to light — and we see him as a preferred partner on some other things in the romantic comedy space,” Salke told Variety.

Directed by Showalter and co-written by Jennifer Westfeldt, The Idea of You follows Soléne (Hathaway), a single mother who takes her daughter and her friends to the Coachella festival. While at the festival, she unexpectedly falls for Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), the 24-year-old lead singer of a popular boy band. However, their romance soon faces challenges as it becomes the centre of intense media attention. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Robinne Lee.

The potential sequel to The Idea of You is not the only follow-up on Hathaway’s busy schedule. Earlier this month, Hathaway confirmed in an Instagram post that she will reprise her role in The Princess Diaries 3 with director Adele Lim.

In addition, there is also buzz surrounding a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, which was released in 2006. While Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt are reportedly expected to reprise their roles, there is no confirmation about Hathaway’s participation.

Galitzine is reportedly set to take on the role of He-Man in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe. The film will be directed by Travis Knight, known for his work on Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings. The film is expected to release on June 5, 2026.
