Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk starrer Bad Newz failed to impress the audience much. The romantic comedy-drama did not receive numbers as expected. It collected ₹ 64.51 crore at the box office in India, as per Sacnilk. Breaking silence on the same, director Anand Tiwari said that he did not expect this.
In a conversation with India Today, Anand Tiwari said, “I never expected any numbers. I don’t have it in me to play this number game. There are other people more qualified than me who can do it. All I wanted was for the audience to love the film because we made it out of love ourselves. To get that kind of love, and people resonating with the songs, dance, and the comedy, that’s just great for me.”
When we asked if his past successful projects helped him get more content greenlit, Tiwari smiled and said, “Yes, it does aid but we don’t get any preferences. What does get greenlit is good content. You need to find your own space within the ecosystem. There are times when there are too many projects in the action genre, and sometimes too many family dramas. So, you need to make sure that your content is different and unique.”
The film follows Triptii’s character, Saloni Bagga, who faces unexpected trouble, after finding out she’s pregnant by two different men, Akhil Chadha and Gurbir Singh Pannu, played by Vicky and Ammy, respectively. This leads to a series of funny and chaotic events. For those not aware, the 2024 movie is a spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit Good Newwz, which featured Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh. Now, you can enjoy the latest movie from the comfort of your home, but there’s a bit of a catch.
While Vicky Kaushal has been earning praise for his dance moves in the song Tauba Tauba, Triptii Dimri, on the other hand, has also caught attention, thanks to her last role in Animal. Director Anand Tiwari once shared that Karan Johar was impressed by Triptii’s performances in Bulbbul and Qala, due to which, he recommended her for this film.
