BTS’ eldest member, Jin, is set to complete his mandatory military service and return home on June 12. The excitement among fans, known as ARMY, is palpable as they eagerly await to welcome their favourite idol. In anticipation of the big day, several streets in South Korea’s capital city, Seoul, are adorned with fan-made posters expressing love and support for Jin.
The K-pop sensation, who joined the military in December 2022, served his country for nearly 18 months. Meanwhile, Jin’s bandmates, Suga, J Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook, have reportedly applied for a vacation to ensure they can all be together for his discharge.
Although there won’t be an official discharge ceremony due to safety measures, both ARMY and the BTS members have made exciting plans to welcome Jin with open arms. Even when he first joined the service, the singer chose not to hold a separate event. As per Dispatch, BTS stated, “We are planning to gather to welcome our ‘eldest brother’ from the military. It is known that other members have already applied for vacation.”
Reportedly, BTS members initially planned to welcome Jin directly at the unit, however, due to safety concerns, the group will now celebrate the occasion quietly in Seoul. Following Jin, J Hope is expected to be discharged in October. Meanwhile, the entire group is scheduled to be officially discharged by June 2025.
Meanwhile, BTS’ label BigHit Music recently shared that Jin has organised a special event at the 2024 Festa at Seoul’s Jamsil Sports Complex, a day after his discharge on June 13. The 31-year-old star will offer hugs to 1,000 lucky ARMYs and the event is expected to go on for three hours. The second half of the event will feature Jin performing for ARMY members. For those who cannot attend the event, the second part of the event will be broadcast live on Weverse exclusively for ARMY MEMBERSHIP holders. Interestingly, the day coincides with the 11th anniversary of the group.
