Dalljiet Kaur’s estranged husband Nikhil Patel has sent a legal notice to the actress. Reportedly, he threatened to take legal action against the television actress and accused her of harassment. As reported by E-Times, Patel stated that under the Indian Penal Code, The Information Technology Act of 2000 (India), and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act of 2012 (India), Dalljiet Kaur’s social media posts accusing him of an extra-marital affair are wrong.
“As a normal citizen of the world, It is very disturbing to see how the gaps in online protection laws both in India and globally can, and are, often exploited by those who choose to gain cheap media attention through careless actions that place innocent children and women at risk. Sharing pictures and video footage without consent of those involved, particularly in the case of children, who are always a vulnerable group in society and who always require protection of the law, is illegal and negligent,” he said.
Nikhil further asked Dalljiet to collect her belongings from his Kenya residence soon or else he would donate them to the needy.
Rumours of Dalljiet and Nikhil’s separation first made headlines in February this year i.e. after 10 months of their wedding. It all started after the actress left everyone shocked by deleting all her wedding pictures from her Instagram handle. Not just this, she also dropped “Patel” from her name.
Earlier this month, Nikhil confirmed their separation when he told E-Times, “In January this year, Dalljiet decided to leave Kenya with her son Jaydon and return to India, which ultimately led to our separation. We both realized that the foundation of our blended family wasn’t as strong as we had hoped, making it hard for Dalljiet to settle in Kenya. In March 2023, we held an Indian wedding ceremony in Mumbai. Though it held cultural significance, it was not legally binding. This ceremony was intended to reassure Dalljiet’s family about her move to Kenya.”
“Despite our efforts, Dalljiet found it challenging to adjust to life in Kenya, missing her career and life in India. The complexities of our family dynamics became increasingly apparent,” he added.
This was Dalljiet Kaur’s second marriage. The actress was previously married to Shalin Bhanot but the two parted ways in 2015 after she accused him of domestic violence.
