Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth File For Mutual Divorce After 2 Years Of Separation
Dhanush And Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth have initiated their formal divorce proceedings as per recent reports.

More than two years following their public announcement of separation, actor Dhanush and filmmaker Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth have officially submitted divorce papers. According to a report from India Today, the couple recently made their divorce filing at the family court in Chennai.

Drawing on its sources, India Today mentioned that their divorce application was made under Section 13 B, which pertains to divorce through mutual consent. Their legal proceedings are set to commence soon. It has been two years since Dhanush and Aishwaryaa began living apart.

The pair disclosed their intention to split in January 2022. Dhanush shared a message on X (formerly known as Twitter), stating, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do Respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this. Om Namashivaaya! Spread love, D.”

Aishwaryaa posted the same message on her Instagram with the caption, “No caption needed…only your understanding and your love necessary!” The couple, with Dhanush being the son-in-law of celebrated actor Rajinikanth, got married in 2004 and have two sons, Yatra and Linga, born in 2006 and 2010, respectively. Despite announcing their separation, they have been spotted together at their sons’ school events.

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa worked together in 3, which marked the latter’s directorial debut. The psychological thriller also featured Dhanush’s popular song called ‘Kolaveri Di,’ which became an internet sensation.

Following their split, Aishwaryaa made a directorial return with the film Lal Salaam, featuring Rajinikanth in a significant cameo as Moideen Bhai. The movie also stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in leading roles. Dhanush’s latest appearance was in Captain Miller, which was released on Prime Video on February 9. He is also preparing for his role as the legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja in an anticipated biopic directed by Arun Matheswaran.
