Going into full MMA mode, Dwayne Johnson is working hard on the sets of his upcoming film, The Smashing Machine. Amid tough wrestling for his A24 mixed martial arts movie, the actor recently got a little “smashed up,” injuring his right elbow on the sets. However, this doesn’t seem to have affected his strength or will, as Dwayne Johnson is now back to work. Giving an update on his health, the actor shared a picture of his bruised elbow and revealed that he suffered from a ruptured bursa sac; however, there was no extensive tissue damage.
“Elbow got kissed by the boo boo monster. No extensive tissue damage. Ruptured bursa sac that will eventually heal. I’ve had much worse, and as always let pain – and tequila – be the guide. Back to work,” he wrote on Instagram. The 52-year-old also thanked his fans and supporters for their love and healing recommendations, further assuring that he is fine now.

Earlier on June 11, the Black Adam star shared a video of his elbow, revealing that he had an injury on the sets of A24’s The Smashing Machine. Pointing it out towards the swelling, Johnson said that he might have some soft tissue damage.
“Look at that sucker right there. It looks like I have a cantaloupe at the bottom of my elbow. I got banged up pretty good today in our scenes, and there might be some soft tissue damage in there. There’s a lot of fluid, and we’ll see. I got to get it out of there first before any kind of MRI. The pain feels pretty good, but all good. It is what it is until it isn’t,” he said.

Despite the injury, the actor seemed in high spirits as he recalled a piece of advice from his father, the late Rocky Johnson.
Dwayne Johnson In The Smashing Machine
Written and directed by Benny Safdie, The Smashing Machine is based on the life of former two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion and MMA legend Mark Kerr. Johnson plays the titular role, chronicling Kerr’s life through his early ways of fighting, personal life, and substance abuse issues.
The film is expected to hit theatres in the US in December 2024. Before that, the actor will be seen in Moana, stepping back as Maui.
