Actress Priya Mani, who made a stunning appearance at the IIFA 2024, shared her strong opinion on women’s safety and the importance of creating a secure environment. Although she agrees that everyone deserves the freedom to travel and do activities independently, at the same time, she also believes that women should consider taking someone they trust. Sharing her own experiences, the actress reveals she would often take her mother to events for comfort and safety. Priya firmly believes that personal boundaries must be respected and that no one should overstep those limits. On the other hand, she praised her Jawan co-star Shah Rukh Khan, by calling him the sweetest for the kind way he treats everyone around him. She also recalled a memorable moment they shared while filming the movie.
Speaking about women safety with The Indian Express during the red carpet, the actress said, “As much as possible, try to make it a safer environment for women. Though it is becoming, I’m not going to deny that there are a lot of places and probably it is not as safe. Probably have extra security or have somebody from your home, a company maybe that would make it slightly safer. I know there’ll be a lot of people who deny the fact that, ‘We are independent, we want to travel alone, we want to do everything on our own,’ I get it but then you see what the result is also happening right.”
“So, I would just say have somebody with you, I think it always works because I always had my mother accompanying me throughout my life. After a while I just told her to stay at home and I would manage everything on my own. Apart from that for me the way you conduct yourself, you draw a line and I don’t think anybody can cross it,” Priya Mani added.
Priya Mani also admired Shah Rukh Khan’s kind and humble nature. She mentioned how wonderful it is to work with such a talented actor who treats everyone with respect and warmth. The Family Man actress feels grateful to be part of the film and recalled her first day on set when they were filming a scene in the metro. During the time, the production team announced that SRK wanted to meet everyone and she was the first cast member to meet him. When she approached him, the superstar welcomed her with a big, warm hug. He thanked her for being part of the movie, which left her feeling appreciated and valued, she told India Today.
