In a surprise revelation, the makers of the most highly anticipated film, Kalki 2898 AD, recently unveiled the character to be played by Amitabh Bachchan. A year after giving fans a sneak peek with his first look, the latest teaser gave a more detailed insight into his character as he plays the role of the immortal Ashwatthama in the magnum opus. Ever since the posters were shared, fans couldn’t help but praise Big B for his striking and intense look. The Bachchan family also joined in and seemed to be in awe of the visuals and the actor’s on-screen presence.
Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter, Navya Nanda, shared the character poster of Ashwatthama on her Instagram story and wrote, “He’s here.”
Besides Navya, Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan also heaped praise on their dad’s latest look in the upcoming film. Abhishek Bachchan shared the teaser on his Instagram Stories, calling Big B ‘The Boss’, while Shweta was also left in amazement.

On Sunday, April 21, makers unveiled another look of the megastar from Kalki 2898 AD during the IPL match. To begin with, the actor can be seen in white attire, sitting inside a temple and looking straight toward a beam of light. Big B shared the poster on Instagram and wrote, “It’s been an experience for me like no other. The mind to think such a product, the execution the exposure to modern technology and above all the company of colleagues with stratospheric Super star presence.”
Hours after that, the character teaser was unveiled showing him inside a cave and praying in front of a Shiva linga. As a child enters the cave and asks about his identity, he says, “Mera samay aa gaya, mere antim yudh ka samay aa gaya (My time has come, it’s time for the last war),” further revealing his identity, “Since ancient times, I have been waiting for the arrival of the Avatar. I am Guru Drona’s son, Ashwatthama.”

More about the film
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD features Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan alongside Bachchan. Earlier, the character poster of Prabhas was also unveiled on the occasion of Shivratri.
The film’s events will reportedly begin with the Mahabharat and end in 2898 AD, spanning 6,000 years in time. It will hit theatres on May 9, 2024.
