Bollywood actor Govinda was questioned about accidentally shooting himself by the Juhu Police. Sources revealed that the actor told the Police the revolver was unlocked when he was cleaning it and it misfired. Govinda shared that the revolver was 20 years old. Police sources said that there was prima facie they believe that there was no foul play. However, they are not fully convinced by Govinda’s story. The police might record his statement again soon.
It has also been revealed that Govinda’s daughter Tina Ahuja has also been questioned by the police. Her statement has been recorded as well. Further investigation underway.
Govinda accidentally shot himself in the leg with his own revolver on Tuesday. The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 AM while he was checking the weapon before heading out of the city. The actor and chief Sena leader is currently recuperating at a critical care hospital in Mumbai.
“Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was getting ready to leave for Kolkata. He was keeping his licensed revolver in the case when it fell from his hand and a bullet got fired which hit his leg. The doctor has removed the bullet and his condition is fine. He is in the hospital right now,” his manager, Shashi Sinha told ANI.
Soon after, Govinda also released a voice note to the press to assure them and fans that he is okay. “Namaskar, pranaam, main hoon Govinda, aap sab logon ke aashirwad aur maa-baap ka aashirwad, guru ki kripa ke wajah se goli lagi thi par woh nikaal di gayi hai. Main dhanyavad deta hoon yahan ke doctor ka, aadarniya doctor Agarwal ji ka aur aap sab logon ki prarthana jo hai, aap logon ka dhanyavad, pranaam (I am Govinda. Thanks to your blessings, my parents’ blessings, and the grace of my guru, I was shot, but the bullet has been taken out. I thank the doctors here, especially Dr. Agarwal, and I appreciate all your prayers),” he said.
The actor is likely to be discharged later this week. Several Bollywood stars, including David Dhawan and Shatrughan Sinha, visited the actor in the hospital.
