The 2024 British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) saw a mix of interesting winners and surprising upsets. This year, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer claimed the spotlight, as the movie dominated the awards with numerous wins. On the other hand, Emma Stone’s performance in Poor Things also garnered attention. Among all the moments, a sweet instance was captured on camera as Emma walked towards the stage to receive her Best Actress award. Ryan Gosling, who collaborated with her in La La Land and Crazy, Stupid Love, was seen cheering for her. He even winked in her support. Both actors were nominees for their respective roles in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Yorgos Lanthimos’ film.
The Best Actress category at the 2024 BAFTAs featured not only Emma but also Sandra Huller in for Anatomy of a Fall, Maestro star Carey Mulligan, Rye Lane’s Vivian Oparah, Margot Robbie for Barbie and Fantasia Barrino was nominated for her role in The Color Purple. In a previous media interaction at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado, the actress had spoken about the impact Ryan has had on her life and career. Calling him a dear and wonderful friend, Stone shared, “I can’t even imagine what my life would be without Ryan. He’s such a great person to work with because he’s so collaborative and excited about the process. He’s taught me a lot about being really generous.”

At the 2024 British Academy Film Awards, Emma Stone wore a stunning peach coloured Louis Vuitton gown. While Ryan Gosling looked stylish in a custom Gucci white suit, paired with a matching white shirt and black leather shoes. As Stone accepted her award, the Amazing Spider-Man actress delivered a sweet tribute to her mother, Krista.
She said, “I just want to say this in case I don’t ever get a chance to again, but I really just want to thank my mom. She’s the best person I know in the whole world and she inspires me every single day and she’s always made me believe this kind of crazy idea that I could do something like this and I’m beyond grateful. Without her, none of this exists, including my life. So thank you for that, too, mom.”

Emma Stone secured her second BAFTA this year, as previously, she earned the prestigious golden mask for Leading Actress in 2017 for her remarkable performance in La La Land. Interestingly, the talented actress is also running for the Best Actress award at the upcoming Academy Awards, scheduled to happen next month.
