With a plethora of films that have entertained audiences for years, MCU filmmakers continue to innovate and surprise. One such film is the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. In a recent interview with Total Film, Levy explained his vision for Deadpool & Wolverine.
He said this movie would “break moulds” within the Marvel Universe. Levy mentioned, “We had no idea it would be this unique moment where people are asking what the MCU means anymore.”
Deadpool & Wolverine has Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, playing their iconic characters as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively. In this film, they fight villain Cassandra Nova, played by Emma Corrin.
“We had no idea it would be this unique moment where people are asking what the MCU means any more. Can it surprise us? Can it break moulds in ways that we don’t expect? We certainly hope that this movie is an answer to those questions,” Levy told Total Film.
He further mentioned that Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, has already seen a lot of success with the MCU. Yet, he acknowledged that the consistent success of Marvel films is applause-worthy, but also hinted at the necessity for change and innovation. “You can’t keep doing the same thing ad nauseam and expect people to greet it with the same excitement,” Levy added.
In addition to its fresh approach, the film will introduce some new faces to the MCU. Emma Corrin, known for her role in The Crown, will make her MCU debut as the antagonist Cassandra Nova. Joining her is Matthew Macfadyen, famous for his role in Succession. he will play a TVA agent in the film.
