Sonakshi, Armaan Engage in War of Words Over Actors Taking Over Singers' Domain

In the age of social media, trust celebrities to make news on their own through their comments, thoughts, and thinking. After Sonu Nigam started a debate on a relevant topic, another singer on the block has brought attention to the way singers are often overshadowed by actors even in concerts. Armaan Malik, popular for his fresh voice and soothing vocals, recently had a minor tiff with actress Sonakshi Sinha on twitter.

It all started when Armaan retweeted a status announcing Sonakshi Sinha's opening gig at the upcoming Justin Bieber tour. Armaan wrote, "Agree with @Kailashkher sir! Actors are actors & singers are singers. Leave the stage & mic to us, that's our playground, not yours."

In the response, Sonakshi soon reverted, "A secure artist wud always encourage another artist to grow their skills and follow their dreams. Art in any form should not be suppressed.(sic)"

To which Armaan brought in notice something all singers/performers have been feeling for ages. The singer wrote, "I Agree with u sonakshi.. but I voiced what I felt about how singers are shunned in our country & given lesser importance than actors!!(sic)"

The supposed allegation made Sonakshi loose her cool as she responded back saying, "And this is definitely not the same tune you were singing when you wanted me to sing for you(sic)". Well looks like the actress confused Armaan with his brother and composer Amaal Malik.

Nonetheless, the entire upfront conversation does bring to notice the need to change the working of the music industry in our country. With actors now singing their own songs (hail auto-tune), many young and talented singers get sidelined. Kailash Kher was the first one to speak on the topic, when in an interview given to a website, he said, "I read somewhere that a Canadian singer Justin Bieber is coming to India, and actress Sonakshi will perform at the gig. The news was cute, but quite a lie. It doesn't give a good message internationally,"

He had further added that this does not give out good impression as the foreign performers will think that Sonakshi is a big singer in India while she is just an actor. Such behavior demeans the talent of Indian live singers.
