On Thalapathy Vijay’s 50th birthday, director Venkat Prabhu unveiled the first look from their upcoming film, The Greatest of All Time. Titled The GOAT Bday Shots, the 50-second video features Vijay in a double role engaged in a thrilling chase sequence. The footage shows an older Vijay riding a motorcycle in Russia with the younger Vijay seated behind, firing at pursuers. The scene intensifies as they try to escape, eventually turning to face their pursuers head-on.

Venkat Prabhu wrote on X (formerly Twitter, “Happy birthday to THE GOAT @actorvijay na. Love you na."

The movie is a sci-fi action story about time travel. Vijay plays two roles: a nerdy middle-aged man and a cool young guy. People think they might be the same person from different times. Recently, GOAT was being shot in Kerala, but the film has now wrapped up its Kerala schedule. The next filming schedule is set to take place in Dubai and Vijay has reportedly already left for Dubai to continue shooting. According to a report, the GOAT team is preparing to film an action sequence in Dubai. The upcoming shooting schedule for the movie is expected to extend until the elections, after which the entire team is scheduled to return to India. Previous shooting locations for the film include Hyderabad, Chennai, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Pondicherry.

While fans eagerly anticipate GOAT, many are still disheartened by the realisation that this may be one of the last times they see their idol on screen. After years of speculation about entering politics, Vijay finally formed a political party named Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in February of this year. However, his political entry came at a price, as the actor-turned-politician announced his retirement from films shortly thereafter. According to reports, after GOAT, Vijay will appear in one more film before bidding farewell to his acting career to focus fully on politics.

In April, the makers released an official poster with the release date of the film. The new poster showed Vijay with a salt-and-pepper look, wearing glasses that give him a nerdy vibe. It also depicted a bomb blast in what looks like Europe and a passport with many visa stamps, hinting at the movie’s diverse settings. The poster also reveals the release date – September 5.
