Watch: Amitabh Bachchan Takes Mumbai Coastal Road Tunnel For The First Time
Impressed by the construction of the tunnel connecting the Marine Drive and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, the megastar called it a “marvel”.

Amitabh Bachchan was left “marvelled” while travelling through the newly-inaugurated Coastal Road in Mumbai. The two-kilometre-long tunnel connects Marine Drive and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, dramatically cutting the distance between the two places. The commercially important project began on October 13. Amitabh Bachchan recently coursed through the Coastal Road for the “first time”. Impressed by the construction, the megastar shared his experience by dropping a video of his journey on his Instagram handle.

“Went first time in the TUNNEL – Enter before Haji Ali and out Halfway to Marine Drive. A Marvel,” captioned Amitabh Bachchan. The visuals presumably recorded by the veteran star offered social media users a detailed glimpse into the long tunnel. Amitabh Bachchan was seemingly sitting in the backseat of his vehicle. There were proper lighting arrangements, prominent road signs, and speed indicators for commuters to travel with ease. Emergency exits were also visible.

As soon as the video surfaced online, Amitabh Bachchan’s followers flooded the comment section. Citing her own experience, legendary singer and television actress Ila Arun wrote, “Fantastic. We have also used This tunnel. What an experience.” An individual’s light-hearted remark read, “Sir ‘Marvel’ Nahin, Aapke Muh se ADHBHOODH acha lagta hai (Sir, not Marvel, the word ‘amazing’ sounds better coming from your mouth).”

“Lovely sir for showing us the tunnel and making us enjoy it as well,” noted a fan.

According to a report by PTI, the Coastal Road was built at a cost of over Rs 12,500 crore. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde in a statement said that the construction was an “engineering marvel”. The CM further added that considering the safety of the people on the road, every precaution has been taken. The second phase will open to the general masses in May this year.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Amitabh Bachchan has three films lined up in his pipeline. The first is director Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, followed by the courtroom drama Section 84 and the Tamil film Vettaiyan.
