The film industry is a place known for enmity between stars. Something similar happened between actors Shammi Kapoor and Shatrughan Sinha. Raj Kapoor was Shatrughan Sinha’s role model. But once, Shatrughan Sinha said something about the Kapoor family. It reportedly led to a scuffle between Raj Kapoor’s brother, actor Shammi Kapoor and Shatrughan Sinha. Shatrughan Sinha and Raj Kapoor were known to be very good friends in Bollywood. The duo starred together in the film Khaan Dost, directed by Dulal Guha. It flopped at the box office. As per IMDb reports, Shatrughan Sinhaused to idolise Raj Kapoor. It was said that because of Raj Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha became an actor. An incident involving Prithviraj Kapoor ruined the friendship. Reportedly, during the film institute days, Prithviraj Kapoor used to visit the institute to talk to students and sign autographs. Once, during a conversation, Prithviraj Kapoor used some foul and crude words which offended Shatrughan Sinha.
Shatrughan Sinha later bashed Prithviraj Kapoor in many interviews by saying that stars should be well-behaved around fans and be careful with their words. He would continuously talk about this incident which irked Shammi Kapoor, who retaliated. Once, during the shoot of Khaan Dost at RL Studio, Shammi Kapoor confronted Shatrughan Sinha for his comments, which turned into a scuffle. It led to Shammi Kapoor grabbing his collar and dragging him outside the gates of RK Studio. Reportedly, he also slapped Shatrughan Singh and instructed the guards to never let him enter the studio. Shatrughan Sinha later apologised for his comments.
There were reports that the writers of the film were unhappy and angry. Khaan Dost’s writers BB Bhalla and Shubhash Ghai were angry with the director, as they felt that the script was tampered with. The story was actually about Khaan who meets the Havaldar, but they alleged that the director made the story of the Havaldaar instead.
