Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s marriage is not the first interfaith marriage in Bollywood. Swara Bhaskar garnered the headlines on social media last year when she married political activist Fahad Ahmad. The actress is known for films like Raanjhanna and Tanu Weds Manu. Famous for expressing her unfiltered opinions about Indian politics and other pressing issues, the actress recently opened up about the thoughts she battled with before accepting her feelings for her now-husband. One of the biggest fears of the actress was that she would not be invited to Bollywood parties after her marriage.
Swara Bhaskar told why she married Fahadh despite all these fears and the battles she fought before tying the knot. The actress answered all these questions during a conversation with Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol’s show ‘Couple of Things.’ She said that she met Fahadh during a protest in Mumbai. The Tanu Weds Manu actress further said that they were not ready to believe that there could be something between them but people around them always suspected different. “There came a time when I started fearing society. I am not the kind of person who thinks about what society will think, but then I don’t know what happened. I started thinking about people. What will family and friends say.” said Swara Bhaskar.
The actress further talked about her biggest fear. She said, “I was afraid that if I married Fahad, Bollywood people would not invite me to parties. I could not understand why this was happening to me. I was raising slogans for secularism and on the other hand, all this was going on in my mind.”
Facing the marriage dilemma with Fahad, the actress Swara Bhaskar talked to her uncle about this and understood that Fahad was her best choice. The actress said that her uncle explained to me that if you found all the qualities you liked in Fahad in another person, who would also match all your other practical conditions, would you consider him? And I unknowingly said, ‘No…’ The actress further said that she was scared for no reason. She loved her man because of his identity and vice-versa from him.
Swara Bhaskar married Fahad Ahmad on February 16, 2023. She gave birth to their daughter, Raabiyaa on September 23, 2023.
