F.R.I.E.N.D.S Theme Song Played To Honour Matthew Perry At Emmys 2024

The In Memoriam segment at the 75th Emmys was a poignant moment as it paid tribute to late performers, including notable figures like Len Goodman, Andre Braugher, Lance Reddick, Paul Reubens, Barbra Walters, Kirstie Alley, and others. Notably, F.R.I.E.N.D.S actor Matthew Perry received a particularly emotional tribute during the ceremony, as reported by Variety.

In the In Memoriam segment, Charlie Puth and the singer-songwriter duo The War and Treaty took the stage to honour Matthew Perry. Puth performed his song See You Again, and The Rembrandts followed with a stripped-down version of I’ll Be There for You, the iconic theme song from F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Matthew Perry’s untimely demise deeply affected his fans, family, and colleagues. The cast, in particular, expressed their grief and shared touching memories of their time with him.

Matt LeBlanc, who portrayed Joey Tribiani on the show, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt note alongside a series of images. “Matthew It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among my favourite times of my life. It was an honour to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love. And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.” he wrote.

In another post, David Schwimmer thanked Matthew Perry for “ten incredible years of laughter and creativity.” He reminisced about Perry’s impeccable comic timing and delivery and shared a cherished moment from the Friends set. “I will never forget your impeccable comic timing and delivery. You could take a straight line of dialogue and bend it to your will, resulting in something so entirely original and unexpectedly funny it still astonishes you. And you had heart. Which you were generous with, and shared with us, so we could create a family out of six strangers,” David wrote in the caption.

He further added, “This photo is from one of my favourite moments with you. Now it makes me smile and grieve at the same time. I imagine you up there, somewhere, in the same white suit, hands in your pockets, looking around ‘Could there BE any more clouds?'”

Matthew Perry, widely recognised for his role as Chandler Bing on the iconic TV sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S, passed away unexpectedly on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54.
