Jaya Bachchan Believes That Men Should Pay On Dates: 'How Stupid Of Those Women...'
Jaya Bachchan shared her thoughts on whether men and women should split the bill on dates or not.

Navya Naveli Nanda recently announced the highly anticipated second season of her podcast show, What The Hell Navya. Fans are thrilled for the episode as the Bachchan ladies- Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan, and Navya have reunited once again to discuss women issues in a modern spectrum. However, in a recent episode, Agastya Nanda joined the conversation as they all discussed the changing notions of masculinity. The conversation also steered towards whether one should spilt the bill on dates. To this, Jaya Bachchan echoed her thoughts.

During a segment of her podcast, Navya Nanda stated,”Especially after feminism, and women feeling more empowered now, a lot of things they want to do independently. For example, today, if you take a girl out on a date, and you offer to pay, some people get offended by that. Because women feel that they are equally…” Jaya Bachchan expressed, “How stupid of those women. You should let the men pay.”

Agastya Nanda quipped, “If you say, ‘I would love to pay for this meal’, it’s not going to come across the wrong way because you’re doing it out of kindness, not because you think you’re ‘the provider’. It’s the intent.”

Shweta Bachchan also explained how men have changed from the time they were younger, “There was always that thing that a man has to be strong and silent. Even when you’re dating, you’re waiting for the guy to come up to you, the guy to propose. I would like that. It’s better for a man to propose, I’d be very awkward.”

For those unversed, Navya Nanda started her podcast journey on YouTube in 2002 with ‘What The Hell Navya’. In her podcast, she, along with grandmother Jaya Bachchan and mom Shweta speak about issues women face in society. They also got candid in their conversations. The episodes can be found on Navya’s YouTube Channel. The podcast was created by IVM Podcasts and empowered by Bumble India.

Last year, in January 2023, Navya was also awarded a trophy from India Audio Summit and Awards 2023. Smiling ear to ear after winning the trophy, Navya in her caption wrote, “Thank you for all the love you have given to What The Hell Navya!” Along with her fans, best friends Suhana Khan, and Ananya Pandey, mother Shweta Bachchan, and uncle Abhishek Bachchan reacted and dropped congratulatory messages on her post.
