Kangana Ranaut Shares Similarity Between Her And Captain Tejas, Says 'If I Were Not In Films, I Would...' | Exclusive

Kangana Ranaut’s Tejas saw its digital premiere on January 5. The film showcases Kangana Ranaut in a never-seen-before avatar, portraying the role of a fearless Indian Air Force pilot. Crafted as an action-packed thriller, the film is skillfully written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara and produced by the industry stalwart Ronnie Screwvala. Joining Kangana in this gripping tale is a set of talented actors – Ashish Vidyarthi, Harsvardhan Rane, Divya Dutta, Anshul Chauhan, and Varun Mitra.

In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Kangana Ranaut shared some interesting anecdotes about Tejas. Here are the excerpts:

Can you share a memorable moment from the sets of Tejas which is now coming on ZEE5, that encapsulated the essence of your character?

We were filming one of the scenes in the aircraft hangars and there we happened to encounter real-life fighter pilots. They saw us, and we were all wearing the same clothes. I felt quite inadequate being dressed similarly to them. Initially, I was worried they might find it strange, but I explained that it was for a film shoot and clarified what we were doing. Surprisingly, they were thrilled and even took pictures with us. It turned into a nice moment that made me proud of what I was doing and of my character.

Is there any similarity between you and Captain Tejas? In what ways did you connect personally with her?

I do think so. I also feel like a bonfire, and sometimes I imagine that if I were not in films, I would probably be a soldier stationed at the border. I’m not sure if I could manage that, but this thought has crossed my mind. However, I feel very confident and charged when it comes to fighting for the right cause and being able to defend my country and its people. This is one of my most favorite things to do, and no matter what it takes or what the stakes are, I never back down from that fight. It’s a constant battle because, of course, where there are good forces, there are also bad forces. So, for me, I feel that spirit of ‘do or die’ that they have, I feel I have the same spirit.

Tejas traces the journey of an ambitious young woman aspiring to become a fighter pilot, challenging stereotypes, and breaking barriers in a male-dominated profession. The film delves into themes of bravery, dedication, and the indomitable spirit of the Indian Armed Forces. As the story progresses, Kangana Ranaut will be seen becoming an Indian Air Force fighter pilot, who is on a daring mission to rescue from terrorists an Indian spy who has some very confidential information. This kidnapping is also linked to an impending attack on India, forming the crux of the narrative.
