Mumbai Police Registers FIR Against JSW Chairman for Alleged Rape after Bombay HC Order
The Mumbai police filed the FIR agaisnt Sajjan Jindal after Bombay High Court's order.

The Mumbai Police registered an FIR against Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Group, Sajjan Jindal, in connection to the rape allegations levelled against him. The FIR was filed at the Bandra Kurla Complex Police Station.

The development came after a woman in Mumbai accused Jindal of rape and sexual exploitation. According to the FIR, the complainant claims that the alleged incident took place in January 2022.

Jindal has been booked under several sections of IPC, including 376 (rape) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty).

According to Moneycontrol, the complainant first submitted a written complaint in February 2023 and then approached the Bombay High Court, which directed the police to register an FIR against the Chairman of JSW Group.

“I approached the police on February 16, 2023. They barely scribbled down a rough statement…No FIR was filed… Finally, on December 5, 2023, I filed a writ petition,” the complainant said.

Moneycontrol had reached out to JSW Group regarding the allegations but has not received any response yet.

The FIR was registered on December 13, 2023, a day after the court order. However, Mumbai Police has denied any delay in registering the FIR.
