In a scary incident, a 16-year-old lost his life after being struck by lightning at Mumbai’s Juhu Chowpatty. The teenager has been identified as Hasan Yusuf Shaikh. After an investigation, it was revealed that Shaikh went to Juhu beach alone to watch Ganpati immersion. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, he was struck by lightning and then fell into the water.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mahesh Mugutrao said, “Prima facie it appears that he had come alone to see the Ganesh idol immersion at the chowpatty. There was no Ganpati with him, nor was he accompanying any pandal. While he stood near the water at the beach, he got struck by lightning and fell into the water.”
Hasan’s body was found at the beach and he was rushed to Cooper Hospital immediately. There, he was declared dead.
Initially, it was assumed that the teenager died of drowning. However, it was later discovered that he had been struck by lightning. A lifeguard on the beach witnessed the entire incident. Lifeguard’s statement has been recorded and a case of accidental death has been registered.
This comes just a day after three women were killed after lightning struck them at a village in Chhattisgarh’s Balod district. The incident took place late Wednesday afternoon when the victims were working in a paddy field in Kisna village under Devri Bangla police station area.

The deceased have been identified as Chameli Nishad, her daughter-in-law Kamin Nishad, and Bisantin Sahu. A police official claimed that the three women took shelter under a tree after rainfall started. This is when the lightning struck, leaving them seriously injured. Some locals shifted the women to a community health centre in Devri where they were declared dead.
