Ranveer Singh Lauds Anant Ambani for Vantara Initiative: 'A Watershed Moment in Animal Welfare'
Several Bollywood celebrities including Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor and Karan Johar have congratulated Anant Ambani on the launch of Vantara.

Ranveer Singh has heaped praise on Anant Ambani, Director on the boards of Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation, for the launch of the latter’s Vantara initiative. Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation on Monday announced the launch of ‘Vantara’, a unique programme aimed at rescuing, treating, caring and rehabilitating injured, abused and threatened animals, in India and abroad.

Ranveer took to his Instagram account to appreciate Anant’s efforts and called the launch of Vantara “a watershed moment in animal welfare.” “Anant, you have the largest and kindest heart,” Ranveer added.

Earlier, Kareena shared a post lauding Anant Ambani for his inspiring vision and also spoke about an elephant that was rescued under the initiative. “Vantara has tirelessly rescued over 200 elephants and thousands of other animals, reptiles, and birds, committing to animal welfare. Bravo, Anant and team, on creating such an amazing initiative,” Kareena wrote.

Speaking about an elephant that was treated by the initiative recently, Kareena revealed that doctors involved in the initiative successfully performed cataract surgery on the elephant named Tarzan and helped restore his vision. “This is Tarzan, a young elephant who experienced a life-changing transformation recently after a successful cataract surgery, which restored his vision,” she shared.

With a staff strength of about 2,100+, the rescue and rehabilitation centre has rescued about 200 leopards from all over India, which have suffered injuries in road accidents or man-wild conflicts. It has rescued over 1,000 crocodiles from a severely overcrowded and congested facility in Tamil Nadu. It has rescued animals from hunting lodges in Africa, animals under threat of euthanasia in Slovakia, severely distressed animals from facilities in Mexico.

The Vantara programme has gained tremendously by working together with international organisations such as the Venezuelan National Foundation of Zoos and associating with reputable organisations worldwide such as the Smithsonian and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. In India, it collaborates with the National Zoological Park, Assam State Zoo, Nagaland Zoological Park, Sardar Patel Zoological Park etc.
