Two properties belonging to family members of fugitive mobster Dawood Ibrahim were auctioned off on Friday by the competent authority under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, an official said.

A total of four properties, located at Mumbke village in Khed tehsil of coastal Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra, were available at the auction, but no bids were received for two of them.

The auction featured four properties in Mumbke village in Khed tehsil of Maharashtra’s coastal Ratnagiri district, but only two of them drew bidders.

One property, agricultural land measuring 170.98 sqmt, received the highest bid of Rs 2.01 crore against the reserve price of Rs 15,440.

The plot purchaser claimed that the reason he paid so much for the plot was that the survey number and the total amount add up to a favorable figure in numerology. There, he plans to open a Sanatan school.

Mr. Srivastava, a former leader of the Shiv Sena, responded, “I am a Sanatani Hindu, and we follow our panditji,” when asked why he had paid so much for the agricultural land. Numerology tells me that the survey number (of the plot) and the money have a figure that works in my favor. I’ll convert this property and then open a Sanatan school on it.”

Another — agricultural land measuring 1730 sqmt — fetched the highest bid of Rs 3.28 lakh against the reserve price of Rs 1,56,270, the official added.

Lawyer Ajay Srivastava bought this land; he had already bought three of the underworld don’s houses, including his childhood home in the same area.

The name of the successful bidder was not disclosed. The auction took place at the Aayakar Bhavan in south Mumbai.

Ibrahim, a wanted accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, is believed to be living in Pakistan.

Back in December, reports on various social media platforms alleged that the gangster was rushed to hospital after being poisoned. Some users even posted screenshots of what appeared to be the account of Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar, which mentioned that Dawood had died. But the message and account turned out to be fake.

Refuting all reports of “Dawood Ibrahim’s death”, his close aide Chhota Shakeel, in an exclusive conversation with CNN-News18, confirmed that the gangster was “alive and healthy”.

“Dawood is alive and healthy. Even I was shocked to see this fake news. I met him multiple times yesterday,” he said.
