‘Absolute Shamelessness’: Prasad Slams ACC’s ‘Malicious Plan’ of Keeping Reserve Day for IND vs PAK Clash
Venkatesh Prasad launched a brutal attack on the Asia Cup organisers, calling the move ‘absolutely shameless’, ‘a mockery’ and ‘unethical’

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to keep a reserve day for the India vs Pakistan Super Four match in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 as the rain threat looms large over the much-anticipated clash. However, the move hasn’t been welcomed by former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad who slammed the ACC for giving special treatment to just one game in the tournament. The arch-rivals are scheduled to play in Colombo on Sunday but the weather conditions look grim with more than a 70 per cent chance of precipitation for the entire day.

As soon as the news regarding the reserve day became public, Prasad launched a brutal attack on the Asia Cup organisers, calling the move ‘absolutely shameless’, ‘a mockery’ and ‘unethical’.

“If true this is absolute shamelessness this. The organisers have made a mockery and it is unethical to have a tournament with rules being different for the other two teams.

“In the name of justice, will only be fair if it is abandoned the first day, may it rain harder on the second day and these malicious plans not succeed,” Prasad posted on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter).

Bangladesh Coach isn’t happy with the decision

Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha was left unhappy over a reserve day being allocated for just the India-Pakistan game in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup. As quoted by Cricbuzz, he said his team would love to have an extra day as well.

“I’m sure there is a technical committee, represented by every participating country, six nations. So, they must have decided with some other reason. Yes, it’s not ideal. We would love to have an extra day as well. Other than that, I don’t have much comment on that because they have made a decision,” Hathurusingha was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

“We haven’t spoken about that (reserve day) because once you’ve made a decision, we don’t have much say.

“So, if we were consulted before, we would have our comment, but because it’s already made, I don’t have any concern. And we just get on with what we were asked. I haven’t seen this kind of thing in another tournament. Changing rules in the middle of the tournament, so that’s the new thing I can add to that,” he added.
